Types of EV Chargers
There are two main types of EV charger in single and three phase range: untethered and tethered.
At iFix Electrics, we install both types of chargers at your convenance.
Untethered EV Charger:
      • Does not have a permanently attached cable. You must connect your own cable each time you use the charger.
      • Offers greater flexibility as you may need to use different types of cables or connectors for various vehicles.
      • Typically, the charger unit itself may be less expensive, but you will need to purchase and maintain your own cable.
      • You need to ensure your cable is compatible with the charger and vehicle.
Tethered EV Charger:
    • Comes with a permanently attached cable that is stored on the unit or in a holder. You simply plug the cable into the vehicle.
    • No need to carry or manage an additional cable.
    • Requires more space or specific placement for storing the attached cable, which can increase the installation process and time.
    • Generally, the unit may be more expensive due to the included cable, but it reduces the need for you to purchase a separate cable.
    • The cable is part of the unit, so if it becomes damaged, it might require the entire unit to be serviced or replaced.
